Last 2000, Viva Television, after acquiring VTV (Vintage Television) and now on its primetime programming contract with the Kapinoy network IBC, brought Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and The Weakest Link, are the two game shows produced by IBC that originated in the United Kingdom, and Viva ill produced fpr Born to be a Star, a singing reality search show that originated in the United States as well as the the country's premier professional basketball leagues like the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and the National Basketball Association (NBA) games. The country's three big giant networks like ABS-CBN, GMA and TV5 executives thought the show on their audience shares.
Last April 20, 2013, the game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire will celebrate its 13th year on Philippine TV. Meanwhile, the network are beginning to gear up for stiffer competition as IBC strengthen its hold on the audience with a game show like Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and The Weakest Link, and a new reality search show for the contest Born To Be A Star as well as two basketball for the PBA and NBA.
Viva executive Veronique del Rosario-Corpuz said the reaction she's anticipating for the worldwide phenomenal Born to be a Star on primetime TV.
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire has definitely upset TV programming executives at the country's two biggest networks. The show once again forcing them to analyze their programming thrust with Millionaire's ratings as basis. Recently, the network announced it had appointed the new host to the three shows: Drew Arellano for Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Richard Yap as Sir Chief for The Weakest Link a run for his money and a singing champion Anja Aguilar for Born to be a Star, rising to the singing superstar of reality search show hosting. We have yet to see in action these actors-turned-game-show-hosts.
